Pitch Competition Audience Favorite Voting
Pitch Competition Overview
UTEP Blackstone LaunchPad and the Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce hosted the first "Grand Pitch Competition" on April 5-30, 20201.
The competition provided an opportunity for students to understand the process of starting a business and develop their ventures in both a collaborative and competitive environment. Entrants were guided throughout the process through weekly virtual workshops and mentoring.
The Grand Pitch Competition was open to all UTEP students and recent alumni
Student teams participated in a 4-week program. Every Monday, students attended a 60- minute workshop, Wednesdays and Thursdays attended office hours. Every Friday, ventures practiced their pitch in front of a panel of mentors from Blackstone.
We are incredibly proud of all 17 student ventures that participated in this first edition of the Grand Pitch Competition.
UTEP Blackstone LaunchPad and the Mike Loya Center, in collaboration with Microsoft, are offering an "Audience Favorite" prize for $1,000.

Parallel RealityParallel reality develops augmented and virtual reality apps for learning and entertainment. Build an app using Virtual Reality to do mock-up interviews. The idea is that the user will select a predefined interview and then place their phone on a mobile VR headset to get immersed in a VR office with an AI character conducting the interview. At the end of the interview, the user will be able to listen to the interview. The app will be targeting mobile devices and potentially VR headsets such as Oculus.
