This program, funded through various grants and scholarships, covers tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduate Texas students whose families have an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA, have financial need and complete 24 credit hours in an academic year.
Up to $6,495 per year (amount may change annually)
Deadline to apply: June 30, 2022 | For Freshmen and Transfer Students
This Federal grant is awarded to undergraduate students based on financial need. Submitting a FAFSA is required.
Covers tuition and mandatory fees
Priority deadline to apply: January 15, 2023 | For Freshmen and Transfer Students
Financial need is the main criteria for the TEXAS (Towards Excellence, Access, and Success) Grant. Submitting a FAFSA is required and other academic requirements apply.
$1,000-$8,000 per year; renewable for four years
Deadline to apply: March 1, 2023 | For Freshmen
The University offers these scholarships to individuals with grade point averages of at least 3.25 who rank in the top 10% of their graduating class. Applications include a student essay.
$2,000 per year for up to two years
Priority Deadline to apply: First come, first served | For Transfer Students
This grant assists transfer students who enroll at UTEP with 60 or more credit hours to complete their first bachelor’s degree in two years. Applicants must show financial need, be full-time students (12-plus credit hours) and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. A FAFSA is required.
Up to $24,600 per year; renewable for four years
Deadline to apply: January 2023 | For Freshmen
Terry Scholars are well-rounded, hard-working students with a capacity to be future leaders. Recipients must be incoming freshmen who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and meet Texas residency requirements. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and show financial need.
