The University of Texas at El Paso has selected two Distinguished Alumni and eight Gold Nugget Award recipients who will be recognized during the University’s Homecoming celebration Sept. 21-27. The annual awards are among UTEP’s highest honors, with recipients demonstrating excellence, service and professionalism. |

Students Place Eighth at National Cybersecurity TournamentA team of undergraduates earned a top eight finish at the first annual Hack the Madness cybersecurity tournament. The competition featured 64 universities from across the country in a single-elimination tournament. |

Education Professor Earns U.S. Fulbright Scholar AwardMaria Teresa de la Piedra, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Teacher Education, will spend four months in her native Peru. Her work abroad will center on strengthening the preparation of teachers and social science researchers. |
