Miguel Loya Donates $30 Million to UTEP for Engineering Excellence

UTEP has named its college of engineering the Miguel A. Loya College of Engineering to recognize a $30 million gift -- the largest in University history -- from alumnus Miguel Loya. The contribution will endow the Miguel A. Loya Scholarship Program, which will award full tuition, room, board and monthly stipends, and a potential $30,000 bonus.

UTEP Press named the winners of its first round of book awards since relaunching the press in fall 2025. UTEP Press, which publishes a wide variety of popular and academic books, announced winners in two categories for its inaugural 2026 awards, as well as its 2027 book awards.
