With New Mexico’s Spaceport America to the north and Van Horn’s Blue Origin site to the east, UTEP is at the center of a region renowned as a leader in space flight and aerospace research. Students majoring aerospace and aeronautical engineering can take part in research on satellite technology, lunar exploration, robotics, spaceflight guidance systems, micro-gravity 3D manufacturing, rocket propulsion systems, and Martian soil.

MEET RENE

As an undergraduate student, Rene Miranda was intrigued by the work his instructors were doing in aerospace exploration. He leaned on those relationships to join UTEP’s Aerospace Center while also pursuing a master’s degree. It was a pivotal experience that solidified his interest in the aerospace industry. Miranda credits the tutelage of UTEP faculty for helping him find a job as a mechanical engineer-rocket scientist at United Launch Alliance.
