Return to Campus Guidance

As health conditions begin to improve in our region, the University has begun the transition back to in-person activities on campus while continuing best health practices to ensure the health and safety of the campus population, and following guidance from the Department of State Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As circumstances change, we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly.

Majority of classes in-person.


Generally, faculty expected to have a significant on-campus presence in order to be available to students and colleagues, and to foster a classroom and campus-based culture of academic engagement and community.

Campus departments and services back to normal in-person operations with remote work as approved.

COVID-19 Testing

UTEP’s walk-up testing operations planned to be closed. Limited antigen testing may be available for students in the Student Health Center. Private and public testing options will be listed at as a resource.

COVID-19 Vaccination

No mass vaccination clinics planned at UTEP, but vaccines will be widely available in the community.

On-campus activities

Effective August 1, in-person events are allowed. No safety plan required.

UTEP-sponsored travel
