COVID-19 Vaccination Second Doses Begin Today
Friday, February 12, 2021
We received an allotment of COVID-19 second dose vaccines this week, and our clinic will take place today and tomorrow. For the next two weeks, we expect to provide the second dose to those who received their first dose at UTEP.
If you will be receiving a second dose from UTEP in the next two weeks, here’s what you need to know:
- Your appointment has already been scheduled. It will take place at the same time and location as your first dose appointment, on the date listed on your vaccination card, which is 21 days after your initial dose. No additional action is required from you to book your appointment.
- Please bring your vaccination card with you to the appointment.
I strongly encourage you to keep your second dose appointment. It is very important that you complete the vaccination process to gain maximum protection. For questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
So far, we have been able to provide the first dose of the vaccine to 3,478 people. Eligible faculty, staff and students were notified to schedule an appointment, and we expanded our program to include eligible individuals among our retirees and faculty emeriti last week. We also worked with colleagues at El Paso Community College and several Region 19 school districts to vaccinate some of their employees in the highest priority groups.
If you meet the criteria for group 1A or 1B (see the eligibility criteria here) and have not yet been vaccinated, please make sure you have completed all of the consent forms. You will be sent an email to your UTEP account when we have vaccine with a link to schedule an appointment.
Even after you receive your second vaccine, please continue to wear your mask, practice social distancing, and get tested regularly for COVID-19. There is still a chance you can get and spread COVID-19, and the CDC recommends that you continue to follow these best health practices to protect yourself and others at this time.
