UTEP’s Wednesday Vaccination Clinic Postponed
Tuesday, January 19, 2021
The University was told we would receive 975 COVID-19 vaccines today and scheduled the highest risk UTEP students, faculty and staff for vaccination clinics starting tomorrow morning, Wednesday, Jan. 20 and continuing through Thursday, Jan. 21.
Unfortunately, earlier today the Texas Department of State Health Services notified the University that vaccines would not be delivered today. We do not know where the shipment is, but we have been told it is still scheduled to be allocated to UTEP.
As a result, we are canceling our vaccination clinic on Wednesday, Jan. 20. If we receive the vaccine tomorrow, we will continue with vaccination as scheduled Thursday, Jan. 21. All individuals who had appointments on Jan. 20 will be rescheduled to a later date, which could be as early as Friday, depending on when the University receives its shipment of vaccines.
“We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of vaccine,” said Heather Wilson, President of the University. “When we receive the vaccine, we will immediately notify those who expected to be vaccinated this week so that they can be scheduled to get a shot.”
Because of its School of Pharmacy, School of Nursing and College of Health Sciences, UTEP has qualified people and the right equipment to be able to vaccinate.
