Leaders,
The University’s Recovery Task Force has been working on training materials for you to use as you prepare your teams for the return to campus.
There is not a single solution that will work for every unit, but everyone needs to have some basic reminders and it is important for you, as a leader, to gather your team members to talk through how to implement safety rules and guidelines in your workspace. You can do that virtually or socially distanced on campus.
At a minimum, every employee working on campus should receive training on:
- Symptoms of COVID-19
- Stay home decisions
- How the virus spreads
- How to protect yourself and others
- Cleaning and disinfection
The Recovery Task Force has created a PowerPoint for you to use with your team to cover these topics. You can access it at this link. You might want to share the PowerPoint with your team in advance of doing your own in-person training so that people can think about their questions in advance.
Students have also produced a training video that all students are required to watch before coming to campus. It covers the same subjects and you should feel free to use it with your team, if you wish.
We will clean and disinfect facilities. We have installed signage and rearranged classrooms and common areas to enable social distancing. We have reduced the number of people on campus at any one time. But the little decisions by thousands of us collectively will really make a difference. As a leader, you set the tone so that we get the basics right – stay home if you are sick, wear a face covering, stay six feet apart, and wash your hands a lot. I would ask for your help to reinforce these best practices and model them with your team.
I would also ask you to walk through your workspace before school starts. Facilities Services has installed signage throughout campus and adjusted common areas to increase distance. Please review what was done in your area and call 915-747-PETE if you need additional modifications.
Thanks much for all the work you are doing.
