COVID-19 Testing During Winter Break
Friday, December 11, 2020
Season’s greetings, Miners!
As we end the fall semester, UTEP has taken steps to ensure that we continue to do our part to minimize the risk of COVID-19 in our community. For that reason, free coronavirus testing will continue to be available on the UTEP campus during winter break.
Faculty and staff who need to be on campus for work or research from Dec. 14 until the start of the spring semester in January 2021 can be tested for COVID-19 through UTEP’s Proactive Walk-Up Coronavirus Testing Program. Current students and students who are enrolled in the spring 2021 semester also have access to the program.
Visit utep.edu/covidtesting for testing availability. Walk-up testing sites will be closed Dec. 24-25, 2020, and Jan. 1, 2021.
All UTEP employees, students and their families can be tested for COVID-19 at the State Drive-Through Testing Site – UTEP Section in the SC3 parking lot at Schuster Avenue and Lawton Drive through December. The site will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. but will be closed on Dec. 25, 2020 and Jan. 1, 2021. Hours are expected to be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, 2020.
For the next two weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays only, the first 20 vehicles to visit the UTEP Section of the drive-through site will receive a free UTEP face mask.
Although the holidays are a joyous occasion, please remember to follow best health practices to keep yourself and those around you safe. If you plan to attend a small gathering with family and friends, the CDC recommends you wear a mask, use social distancing and limit physical contact, and stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. If you plan to travel, please visit the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker for the latest number of cases in your destination.
I wish you a happy holiday season and a safe and healthy return to UTEP in 2021!
Warm Regards,
Heather Wilson
President
