Take Advantage of COVID-19 Testing Options
Monday, November 30, 2020
Welcome back, Miners! Classes will be online for the remainder of the semester, but students and employees still have access to COVID-19 testing at UTEP.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, when family gatherings, travel or shopping excursions may have put people at greater risk for contracting coronavirus, it is a good idea to get tested if you expect to be on campus around other people.
If you must be on campus for work, research or another reason, UTEP’s Proactive Walk-Up Coronavirus Testing Program is available to you Monday through Friday starting at 8 a.m. Look for the week’s schedule and locations at utep.edu/covidtesting.
It is usually not necessary to be tested more often than once a week. Doing so through the inner campus UTEP walk-up testing program, which has limited resources, may prevent someone else from being tested who really needs it.
If you are not required to be on campus, please stay home. If you would like to be tested for COVID-19, you can visit the State Drive-Through Testing Site – UTEP Section in the SC3 parking lot at Schuster Avenue and Lawton Drive. The site is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You may bring your family members to be tested, too. Just make sure to show your Miner Gold Card to access the UTEP line.
Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1, people who have tested positive for COVID-19 will not be permitted to test at the University’s walk-up testing sites for 90 days because of the high possibility that a second test during this period will detect remnants of the virus, even if the individual is no longer contagious.
Please continue to wash your hands, wear a face covering and keep a social distance of at least 6 feet.
Stay well, and let’s finish the semester Miner strong!
Warm regards,
Heather Wilson
UTEP President
