UTEP Line for State Testing Now Open Monday Through Friday
Tuesday, October 27, 2020
Beginning today, the UTEP section of the state testing site on campus will be open five days a week, and they will do up to 1,000 tests a day.
Wait times are expected to decrease.
The drive-through testing line for Miners and their families now will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until the daily capacity is reached.
The UTEP line is located in the Schuster 3 parking lot at Schuster Avenue and Lawton Drive. You can see a map of the site here. To access the UTEP section, enter the parking lot from Lawton Drive. You will need to show your UTEP Miner Gold Card to access the UTEP line. Test results will be emailed to you within 3-5 days.
Last week, the lines at the state testing site were sometimes long, and capacity was reached before the end of the day. We worked with the testing site organizers to increase the daily capacity at the site and open the UTEP line five days a week.
On Monday, the wait times averaged about 30-40 minutes in the UTEP lines, versus an hour-and-a-half in the public lines.
To help speed up the process when you arrive at the drive-through site, please be sure to read the signs and fill out the online registration while you are waiting your turn for testing. The state testing registration form is NOT the same as UTEP’s Coronavirus Proactive Testing Program consent form to participate in walk-up testing on campus.
UTEP’s walk-up testing sites on campus are reserved for students and employees who have to be on campus for courses or work and DO NOT have any COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals who come to the walk-up sites who are learning or working 100% remotely and who do not live on campus will be redirected to the UTEP line in the SC3 parking lot.
