Matthew Crouse
Matthew “Matt” Crouse joined the UTEP Dean of Students Office as Assistant Dean in January 2019. An Indiana native, Matt joined the team from Purdue University Northwest (PNW) where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Dean of Students Office, student conduct and oversight of the Student Life office. Prior to PNW, Matt served in pivotal roles at New Mexico State University, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and Miami University (OH) spearheading residence life programs as well as supervising undergraduate, graduate and professional staff. Matt received his Bachelors of Science in political science from Ball State University in Muncie, IN and Masters of Science in higher education administration from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He is also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
Matt has worked with diverse student populations, including significant numbers of students who first in their family to go to college. He is known for his ability to partner and collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators and community leaders to support student success. Matt brings with him, extensive experience in learning outcome and benchmark assessment, familiarity and background in first year experience programs, enrollment management, marketing initiatives, public-private partnerships and campus-wide programs. Additionally, Matt has had responsibility for department and university-wide compliance including Title IX, Clery, Drug Free Schools Act and writing portions of institutions’ Annual security Reports, providing cross-institutional mental health training and monitoring and managing student behavior issues and concerns. He is well versed in Banner, Maxient and assessment platforms and has been responsible for the implementation and oversight of institutional policies and procedures.
