International Student Financial Aid
UTEP offers the Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG-I) to international students who demonstrate a financial need caused by unexpected circumstances. The TPEG-I is grant based and means a student does not have to repay the award. The TPEG-I is for fall and spring semester, or for a total of $2,000. It must be applied to tuition and fees. A student may not qualify for the TPEG-I if other assistance is received.
The following criteria must be met to qualify:
1. Undergraduate students must have earned a minimum of 24 semester credit hours as a full-time student, graduate student must have earned a minimum of 18 semester credit hours as a full-time student
2. Must be enrolled full-time and maintain that status
3. Must be enrolled for first bachelors degree or first masters degree
4. Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress
TPEG-I: Students who do not have a Social Security Number and are considered "International," Complete the TPEG-I.
Texas Public Education Grant-International (TPEG-I): Used as an alternative financial aid application. The OSFA will use this application for a student who are not eligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) due to international student status. A student interested in submitting the TPEG is encouraged to do so before the priority deadline.
