What is Inclusion?
Philosophy of Inclusion
Inclusion is a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel accepted, valued, and safe. An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members. Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access. At UTEP, we embrace inclusion as a means of enhancing the well-being of every member of the community. By working together, we strengthen our capacity to provide the foundation for a richer future for all of us.
To accomplish this will require an inclusive campus that allows everyone to use their multicultural talents to make contributions to the academic, research, service, and teaching mission of the University of Texas at El Paso. Inclusion adheres to a broad and comprehensive definition of diversity including gender identity, gender expression, race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, religion, disability, veteran’s status, first-generation status, nationality, citizenship, age and other social identity dimensions that are a critical part of the University of Texas at El Paso.
