A New Vision for Sun Bowl Stadium

For more than 50 years, Sun Bowl Stadium has been the home of the UTEP Miners, hosted one of the longest-running college football bowl games in the country, and become one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Paso del Norte region.

Nestled in the Franklin Mountains, the Sun Bowl is one of the most unique college football stadiums in America.

Fans have cheered on the Miners and guests have enjoyed world-class entertainment at this iconic venue. UTEP is excited to prepare the stadium for the next 50 years of service to our fans, residents of this region and visitors from across the globe.

This renovation will include premium seating in the GECU Terrace, additional food and beverage options, and enhanced accessibility.

New Game Day Seating Experience

Changes to the press tower will include an updated facade visible from Sun Bowl Drive, a drop-off area, a lobby, and a renovated press area for game day/event operations and media. The existing club level will be upgraded to the new Sky Lounge. Food and beverages will be offered in this climate-controlled space.

Located on the west side of the Sun Bowl, the Center Club will feature premium seats and access to the GECU Terrace food and beverage service including outdoor concessions, social spaces, and a season pass to the Sky Lounge.

The GECU Terrace will feature club seats, loge boxes, a cantina and concessions, social spaces and restrooms. The renovations include the addition of walkways, which will allow for crowd flow.

Guests at the GECU Terrace will be able to enjoy table service along with access to a cantina and party deck. The open layout will give fans the opportunity to experience a festive game day atmosphere.

A first for any college football stadium in the region, the Sun Bowl renovation will include loge boxes. These mini open-air suites give fans an exclusive area with easy access to the GECU Terrace and other game day activities. Each loge box will feature chairs and outlets for charging electronic devices.

The Sun Bowl Stadium west concourse update will create an inviting feeling for all guests and fans on game days and for special events. Restrooms will be renovated and added. New elevators will service the main concourse, new mezzanine level and GECU Terrace. The renovation will enhance ADA accessibility with the addition of new ADA sections throughout the west side.
