New Computer Lab For Teaching And Learning

We have seen a high demand of computer equipped classrooms (a computer per student) in UTEP. The Undergraduate Learning Center (UGLC), one of the top classroom usage buildings in UTEP has twelve classrooms (includes four computer equipped classrooms) and six auditoriums. UGLC’ scheduling reports show that the four computer equipped classrooms are with the most demand. Per UTEP Registrar Office, the demand for computer equipped classroom with seating capacity of fifty to sixty seats has been increasing per semester. As of the writing of this document, the Registrar’s Office does not have any computer equipped classroom of this size under their administration.

There is a need to create more teaching spaces that are conducive for computer - intensive instruction. There is also a need that these spaces have a larger seating capacity that existing computer classrooms.
