The team cleaning approach focuses on providing a high level of service and more detailed cleaning in restrooms, corridors, classrooms, high traffic areas and gathering areas. The team members that work in the evenings provide detailed cleaning services such as thoroughly cleaning restrooms, vacuuming and/or mopping floors, dusting furniture, emptying trash cans, cleaning stairwells, waxing corridors, and shampooing carpets. During the day, a small cadre of porters keeps restrooms clean and stocked. They also clean entry ways and high use areas, and respond to spills, emergencies, and special requests.
The custodial staff provides services upon request, such as make-ready preparations prior to an event, cleanup during and after an event, window cleaning, pest control, upholstery cleaning, and non-routine cleaning services. Small event cleanup is performed as part of the normal daily cleaning process. Custodial support services may be charged if the event is large and/or requires more than simply performing minor clean up and trash service. Submit a service request to schedule custodial event support or to get an estimate for any required services. The custodians are also responsible for locking buildings at the end of the day and will typically lock exterior doors by 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. As the custodians finish cleaning interior spaces, they will also lock interior doors (e.g., private offices, labs, classrooms, etc.)
