- Membership at UTEP-SHRM is open to any UTEP student taking the equivalent of at least six credit hours per term (at least half time) in a degree-seeking program and whose coursework supports a demonstrated interest in the business field, especially in Human Resource Management. An overall GPA of 2.0 is required. Membership applications may be downloaded from this website or picked up at our advisor's office in room 229 at the College of Business. Our chapter advisor is Mr. Jackie Eason and may be reached at jeason@utep.edu or by calling 747-7749.
- The Student membership is only $15.00 a semester.
- The National SHRM Membership is $35.00 per year. Upon National SHRM Membership approval, an ID number will be assigned to you to let you access all of SHRM's services and the following benefits:
- HR Magazine & HR News-award-winning monthly publications featuring in-depth articles on human resource management, job listings, and updates on the latest trends and issues.
- Conference Discounts-attend SHRM state and national conferences at special member rates. Visit the Student section of the National SHRM web site at (www.shrm.org/students/) for complete details on upcoming conferences.
- Echoes-a student newsletter featuring chapter news and job search hints, four issues per year.
- SHRM Member Directory Online-an electronic membership directory to help you network with SHRM members. To access this service, go to the SHRM web site (www.shrm.org) to search for members by name, company, region of the country, or any combination of these factors. Student members are not listed in the directory.
- Bibliography Service-bibliographies are generated on request, at no charge, for specific HR topics. Save research time, call the Society's Information Center at 1-800-283-SHRM. Identify yourself as a national student member and have your membership number ready when you call. This is very popular service so please allow 3-4 business days to receive you bibliography.
- UTEP SHRM meetings are held each month, along with other activities. The times and places will be posted on bulletins around the college of business, in the news section of this web page, and sent via email to those who provide it for us.
