General Information
All undergraduates of the University of Texas at El Paso are required to complete the core curriculum before receiving a baccalaureate degree. For degree plans that terminate with a post-baccalaureate degree without offering the baccalaureate degree, undergraduates are required to complete the core curriculum before receiving credit for graduate-level courses. The core curriculum consists of from 48 to 55 semester hours of course work in eleven components. For four components, specific courses are required; the remaining seven component requirements may be satisfied by electing from a "menu" of approved courses. The components, the required number of semester-hour credits, and the type of component are summarized below:
The core curriculum requirement does not preclude counting core courses towards other degree requirements, as specified by the student's College. Students are advised to consult particular degree requirements for their major before selecting courses to meet core curriculum requirements. |
