Megascops/Otus sp.—Screech Owls

The screech owls have been split into different genera. With the exception of Otus asio, those in North America formerly placed in the genus Otus are now placed in Megascops. Remains from Deadman Cave could document the presence of either or both (Mead et al. 1984).
