3rd Annual HEAL Week

The University of Texas at El Paso’s Institute for Healthy Living (IHL) will celebrate the 3rd Annual HEAL (Healthy Eating and Active Living) Week April 12-14 at UTEP.

Events will raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and active living, provide continuing education to healthcare providers in the areas of nutrition and obesity, and celebrate IHL partners in the Paso del Norte region.

The HEAL Week schedule is as follows:

HEAL Celebrate

Thursday, April 12

2-3 p.m.

Hotel Indigo, 325 North Kansas

Private event celebrating IHL partnerships with community, government, business and academic leaders. Second annual HEAL Hero award will be presented. 

Research Symposium

Friday, April 13

11:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Health Sciences and Nursing Building, 2nd floor

Experts in nutrition, physical activity and obesity will present cutting-edge research.

No registration is required and the event is free.

Clinical Symposium

Saturday, April 14

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Health Sciences and Nursing Building

For health care providers, including physicians, nurses and other health professionals. Continuing professional education credits are available.

HEAL Unite 2018

Saturday, April 14

3-6 p.m.

Health Sciences and Nursing Building

Free and open to the public. Ask the Doctor sessions; showcase of programs by HEAL partners; body composition testing; health screenings; Veggie Meter (TM) testing; bounce house; and raffle drawings. No registration is required and parking is free. The IHL is a UTEP-based institute established in 2014 with funding from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation.
