The National Council for Home Safety and Security has listed The University of Texas at El Paso as one of the Top 100 Safest Colleges in America. UTEP, which is ranked 41, is also placed highest among all University of Texas System institutions.

“We are pleased that the National Council for Home Safety and Security has recognized the work we do to keep our campus safe,” said UTEP Police Chief Cliff Walsh. “We are able to sustain a safe environment thanks to the collaboration with UTEP’s students, faculty and staff, as well as local law enforcement.”

The ranking uses the most recent data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting and the Campus Safety Security Survey put out by the U.S. Department of Education. The highest ranked campuses have low total campus and local area crime. Universities with less than 10,000 students enrolled were excluded from the ranking.

The National Council for Home Safety and Security is a trade association comprised of home security professionals across the United States. The council advocates for safe communities and home safety with a strong focus on community involvement.
