UTEP Nursing Assistant Dean Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, awarded Leslie K. Robbins, Ph.D., assistant dean of graduate education in UTEP’s School of Nursing (SON), the 2017 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Robbins, an associate professor at UTEP since 2009, was recognized for her extensive experience and notable accomplishments throughout her 40-year career in nursing and academia. 

Among her remarkable achievements, Robbins was instrumental in the SON’s efforts to establish the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program in 2010. She served as the DNP program’s first director until 2014. 

Robbins holds the Orville E. Egbert Endowed Chair in Nursing and Health Sciences and is a fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a certified Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Robbins is a graduate from UTEP’s Master of Science in Nursing program. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a Ph.D. in nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
