Existing
campus mediation services are quite diverse, addressing a broad range
of conflicts. Cases handled include student versus student disputes, organizational
disputes, disputes between members of the university and the local community,
employee conflicts, disability-related disputes, claims of sexual harassment
or assault, conflicts over racial intolerance or cultural diversity, student
versus staff disputes, faculty conflicts and intra- or inter-departmental
disputes, campus construction projects conflicts, and student protests
and occupations of campus buildings.
Campus Mediation is free ,confidential and impartial, an alternative to
other disciplinary actions in many instances ,an equitable, fair process
that works toward a win-win solution, and a service with flexible hours
and an intent to meet students' needs.
The primary goal of the IPCS is to provide a framework for managing
conflicts and disputes. Mediation Program Design is a strategic
organizational approach for the design and implementation of
effective communication approaches to organizational problems.
