Employees Invited to Stay Active During Wellness Weekdays

The Wellness Program and Office of Human Resources have scheduled activities to encourage a healthier and more physically active lifestyle among UTEP employees.


Wellness Weekdays events are fun, free, informative and interactive lunch sessions that will educate Miners on ways to remain healthy. The sessions are generally from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the summer months.

These scheduled sessions include walking trails, Zumba, boxing, meditation and painting. Class registration links will be sent via email.

June 2

Mining for Health Walk

Multiple campus locations

Wellness Weekdays kicks off with an activity that is part cardio and part treasure hunt.

Mining for Health promotes physical activity on campus among UTEP employees. You can visit six different stations: Old Main, Centennial Plaza, the Chemistry and Computer Science Building, the Health Sciences and Nursing Building, Union Building East, Andesite Suite Rm 102B and the Campbell Building.

  1. Invite a co-worker.
  2. Walk to Centennial Plaza and pick-up a Mining for Health map card.
  3. Visit each station and receive a stamp.
  4. Drop off card at any station to be included in a raffle.
  5. The more stations that are visited, the more chances to win. Raffle will include fitness related prizes.

Join us for a one-hour painting class. Studies have shown that painting and other artistic activities offer stress relief and mental calmness. Disconnect from your stressors and connect with your creativity to have fun, socialize and release your mental load.

Zumba Dance Party!

Union Building East, Templeton Suite, Rm 313

Music is the key ingredient to the Zumba class. This class is a high energy, heart pumping dance-inspired workout from all styles of dancing. Zumba is a dance party that delivers a whole- body workout. So, if you’re ready to move your hips ... this class is for you. Dance experience is not required.

Mindfulness for Better Sleep

Lack of sufficient sleep can have negative consequences, such as tiredness, anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and poor performance. The truth is that sometimes we may have trouble sleeping. Thoughts and worries keep us awake. We can, however, take some control over the issue through mindfulness with a series of exercises to help free our minds and promote sleep. Join in virtually as we explore mindfulness for better sleep.

Give Your Energy a Boost with Boxing

This is the perfect combo of whole body strength exercises and cardio. Expect a full-body workout, engaging every muscle group in your body while building stamina, and improving coordination, balance and flexibility. Take a break, and burn the stress and frustration away!
