Schuster, Hawthorne Intersection to Open; Hawthorne, Rim Intersection to Remain Closed

On Saturday, August 26, the intersection at Schuster Avenue and Hawthorne Street is expected to reopen. Construction will continue east of the intersection and the north side of Schuster Avenue will remain closed. Two-way traffic will continue on the south side of Schuster Avenue.

The nearby construction of the Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center will continue to impact traffic at the intersection of Rim Road and Hawthorne Street.

The work is part of the City of El Paso’s Schuster Avenue Reconstruction Project. The project, which began in late September 2022, includes full street reconstruction and improvements on Schuster Avenue between Prospect Street and Campbell Street.

The nearby construction of the Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center will continue to impact traffic at the intersection of Rim Road and Hawthorne Street. Pedestrian traffic will remain open at the intersection, but it will be closed to traffic other than construction vehicles.

This construction may impact students, employees and visitors traveling in the area. Please plan accordingly and allot extra time when traveling to and parking on campus.

For questions about the project, or special vehicle access, please contact Robert Meredith at rwmeredith@utep.edu or 915-747-8515.
