    Graduate students at UTEP come from a unique mix of social, cultural and economic backgrounds. Forty-three percent of UTEP's graduate students are Hispanic and 3% are African-American. Almost 12% are international, including just under 4% from Mexico. Two-thirds of the graduate students are enrolled on a part-time basis. The majority of graduate students are female (55.6%), and working towards a Master's degree (78.6%). The number of doctoral students continues to grow at a dramatic rate as new Ph.D. programs are initiated. Graduate students, numbering over 2,300, represent approximately 15% of UTEP's total student body.
