Emergency Food Assistance in El Paso County
In response to the current food insecurity crisis in the El Paso community, this interdisciplinary and community-engaged research project funded though the US Department of Treasury (CARES Act) analyzes emergency food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to strengthen food assistance policies in El Paso County.

Graduate research assistants for this project includes Jacob J. Aun from the UTEP Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Jacob is currently authoring his MA thesis in Sociology, based on research conducted for this project. His thesis focuses on idenfiying the locations of food deserts, food assistance deserts, and their areas of overlap in El Paso County, as well the comparing the socio-demographic characteristics of these areas.
