Welcome to the Muscle Molecular Physiology Laboratory
Our laboratory investigates the effects of exercise on both cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology. Specifically, our lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of exercise that can protect cardiac and skeletal muscle against muscle diseases. Our research has important implications in human disease, including the development of skeletal muscle atrophy, muscular dystrophy, muscle degeneration and heart failure. Currently, our lab aims to understand the role of mitogen-activated protein kinases and phosphatases in cardiac and skeletal muscle following injury, disease and exercise using genetically modified mouse and cell culture models.
