Call For Abstracts

The Organizing Committee invites submissions for the El Paso Regional Human Factors and Ergonomics Conference, to be held in El Paso, Texas, on April 17, 2026. This conference brings together researchers, practitioners, students, and industry professionals to share applied and scholarly work addressing contemporary challenges in human factors and ergonomics.

We welcome empirical research, applied case studies, methodological contributions, design innovations, and work-in-progress that advance human-centered design across domains.

Human Factors at the Intersection of Work, Technology, and Society 

Submissions may address (but are not limited to) the following topical areas: 

  • Physical ergonomics and musculoskeletal health
  • Human factors and cybersecurity
  • Cognitive engineering and decision support
  • Healthcare human factors and patient safety
  • Human–AI interaction and automation
  • Occupational ergonomics and safety
  • Human factors in manufacturing
  • Human factors in service industries
  • Wearable technologies and exoskeletons
  • Usability and user experience (UX) evaluation
  • Human factors in transportation and mobility
  • Aging, caregiving, and inclusive design
  • Human factors in emerging and underserved contexts
  • Education, training, and workforce development in HFE

Interdisciplinary and practice-oriented submissions are especially encouraged.

Submission Categories 

Authors may submit to one of the following categories: 

  • Lectures  

  • Poster Presentations  

  • Student Submissions (undergraduate and graduate) 

  • Discussion Panels

Important Dates  

  • Abstract submission deadline: March 6, 2026

  • Notification of acceptance: March 11, 2026

  • Conference dates: April 17, 2026

Review Process 

All submissions will undergo peer review by members of the conference technical program committee. Submissions will be evaluated based on relevance, rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field of human factors and ergonomics.

Publication & Presentation 

Accepted authors of lectures and posters will present during technical sessions at the conference. At least one author of each accepted submission must register and attend the conference.

Location 

The conference will be held at the University of Texas, El Paso. El Paso is a unique border-region city offering rich cultural heritage, accessibility, and opportunities to engage with human factors challenges across diverse work, healthcare, and community contexts.
