Psychology Department
PhD Concentration in Bilingualism, Language, and Cognition
The Bilingualism, Language, and Cognition (BLC) Ph.D. concentration is new option for students who wish to gain solid training in both psychological theory and methodology with opportunities for interdisciplinary training in Linguistics and Speech-Language Pathology. Although most students come to this program directly from an undergraduate program in psychology or a related field, the area accommodates applicants who will complete (or wish to complete) masters degrees in Linguistics or Speech-Language Pathology; coursework in those fields is available to all area students. Certificate in Quantitative Methods in Psychology
This certificate program, open to graduate students in any department, involves training in quantitative techniques that are important for psychological research. Students complete 6 courses (18 credit hours), including Correlation & Regression, ANOVA, Foundations of Research, and 3 elective courses to be chosen from Psychometrics, Meta-Analysis, Categorical Data Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling, Multi-Level Modeling, or other approved quantitative courses inside or outside the department. The certificate program also requires students to gain teaching experience and to present results of a study in which they applied advanced analytic techniques. MS Program in Speech-Language Pathology
The Program in Speech-Language Pathology offers a five-year plan culminating with the Master of Science Degree. Program is ASHA accredited.
Certificate in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology
To provide additional educational and practicum experience for speech-language pathologists in the area of diagnosis and treatment of Spanish only and Spanish/English individuals who are suffering speech-language-voice-swallowing disorders. Program meets ASHA Bilingual Service Provider Guidelines
