About the project. The University of Texas at El Paso has established a consortium of more than 60 institutions and organizations from the public and private sector as part of a national effort to increase the number of Hispanic students who participate in computing. The consortium, called the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI) is the recent recipient of a $9.9 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The long-term vision for CAHSI is to ensure Hispanics comprise 20 percent of graduates in computing disciplines, nationally, by 2030. Dr. Ann Gates leads CAHSI and serves as the Principal Investigator for the funded project. The recently funded project includes a Data Management team that will provide data analysis to inform continuous improvement. The team will be led by Dr. David Knight and the Postdoctoral Fellow. The NSF grant is part of the Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) program.
