EL PASO, Texas (January 6, 2026) ― El Paso Computes, a collaborative initiative focused on expanding computer science, artificial intelligence (AI) and computational thinking education across K–12 schools, is making impact in the region, according to a new report by the City of El Paso, The University of Texas at El Paso and the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD).
EL PASO, Texas (Dec. 10, 2025) – Six outstanding educators were recognized Tuesday evening by the Hopper-Dean Center of Excellence for K-12 Computer Science Education. The educators were named the 2025-26 Hopper-Dean K-12 Fellows and Scholars by The University of Texas at El Paso’s College of Education.
EL PASO, Texas (Aug. 28, 2025) – James P. Carney, Ph.D., is the new executive director of The University of Texas at El Paso’s W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, one of the nation's premier university-based additive manufacturing (AM) research facilities. His appointment begins Sept. 1. Carney brings extensive leadership experience in advanced manufacturing from his recent role as manager of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation (CAMINO) at Sandia National Laboratories.
