Professor Ramana is the Director of the Center for Advanced Materials Research (CMR). The CMR labs handle and perform a wide range of research activities related to those sponsored projects from DoD, DoE, AFOSR, AFRL, NSF to name a few.
Debabrata Das, Ph.D.
Educational Background: Dr. Das did his B.Tech. from West Bengal University of Technology followed by M. Tech from Jadavpur University. He received his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay
Research interest: Oxide and Nitride Nanostructured Materials & Devices; Electronics & Optoelectronics; Polarity Engineered GaN Epilayer on Silicon for future Silicon Photonics; Gallium Oxide Epitaxy for Advanced Photonics; III-Arsenide Hybrid Nanostructures for Infrared Imaging and Intermediate Band Solar Cells; Oxides for Photovoltaics; Performance and Reliability of Photovoltaic Cell and Module; Metal-Chalcogenide Semiconductors for Low Cost Thin Film Solar Cells

Vishal Zade, Ph.D. Candidate
Educational Background: Vishal got his BS in ME from Nagpur Univ. and MS in ME from Univ of Akron, Ohio and worked at Univ of California, Merced as a graduate researcher before joining UTEP for Ph.D.
Research Interest: Fundamental understanding of gallium oxide bulk ceramics, pulsed laser deposition, thin films and coatings.
Hobbies: Riding motorcycles, jogging, bouldering, and hiking.
Nanthakishore Makeswaran, Ph.D. Student
Educational Background: Nanthakishore Makeswaran is currently pursuing his PhD in mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso. He went to Florida institute of Technology for his BS in Aerospace Engineering
Research Interest: Gallium oxide sensors, Nanofibers, Thermal/Environmental barrier coatings

Educational Background: Rebecca got her B.S. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at UTEP, El Paso, Texas. She got her PgDip Subsea and Pipeline Engineering from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland and is currently pursuing PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at UTEP.

Francelia Sanchez, Ph.D. Candidate
Educational Background: BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Ph.D. Student in Materials Science and Engineering
Research Interest: High entropy alloys, metal oxides, and thin films.
Hobbies: Solving jigsaw puzzles and cooking
Educational Background: Emma got her BS in Physics and MS in Physics from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is currently pursuing PhD in Biomedical Engineering also at UTEP

Educational Background: Gaurav got his BTech from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad in Metallurgical Engineering and MS from The University of Texas at Arlington in Material Science and Engineering. Gaurav then got his M.Sc. in Materials Design and Innovation from The University at Buffalo (SUNY) and is pursuing Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at UT, El Paso
