Support for Students
The UTEP Library plays an important role. Even though we are not physically on campus, many of the library's resources are available to you and your students.
UTEP faculty and students can access online resources such as journal databases, digital books, and streaming videos from the Library’s web site. Sign in when prompted with your regular UTEP credentials. A few of the databases may require the use of the GlobalProtectVPN to access when off campus.
If you are looking for online instructional resources to use in your course, UTEP librarians will check course resource lists (books, journal articles, videos, etc.) against the Library’s holdings.
To request library instruction, services, and resources, please upload your syllabus or course resource list. A representative of the UTEP Library will follow up with you usually within one business day.
Librarians are available at ask@utep.libanswers.com for any questions. Questions may be asked at any time and they will respond during business hours.

Prepare for Online Tutoring: Have your textbook close and ready. Have near you all paperwork associated with the class (syllabus, exams, and assignments). Most of all, bring your questions. The better you understand what you need help with, the easier it is for us to help you. Tutors are here to help you understand the topics you are studying. In most cases, they took the same course a few years ago, so they are well prepared to answer your questions. They can help you understand your text and the examples it provides. They can guide you through the solution of typical exercises, and help you devise a problem solving strategy to use in the course. However, tutors are NOT permitted to work your homework assignments or take-home exams for you. The goal of tutoring is to supplement your lecture and textbook to help you master the mathematics you need in order to succeed in your education and in your career.
University Writing Center
During the online transition for campus, the University Writing Center is offering 2 options for students to continue to receive assistance from the UWC.
- Option 1 is a Synchronous system through Blackboard Collaborate. Students will connect with the UWC, chat with a consultant, and use screen sharing to review their papers. Students must be present with their computer and a reliable internet connection to use this service. This service will be available to students Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.
- Option 2 is for students to email their papers to the UWC using an online form.
THERE IS A 72 HOUR TURNAROUND (not including weekends) for the email service.
Please keep in mind this is a transitional period for ALL OF US - be patient, we will do what we can to provide you with our services as quickly as possible. Please understand that you may not be able to have your paper reviewed right away. Waiting to visit us at the last minute before your paper is due is not a feasible practice during these times. Plan ahead, and be proactive with your writing - visit with us long before your paper is due.
