Upcoming Courses


Fostering a Culture of Belonging Microcredential
(8-week program)


Application Deadline: February 9

This is a 4-module microcredential focused on fostering a culture of care.

Topics include:

  • Developing students’ sense of belonging
  • Gaining more understanding in recognizing and responding to:
    • Implicit bias
    • Microaggressions
    • Inclusive environments
    • Imposter syndrome

Timeline
: Courses are organized during an 8-week period during the Spring semester. See current calendar.


Format
: These are self-paced*, online modules. Participants are selected as a cohort, and participate in virtual group discussions, and 2 in-person sessions on campus to support collective and collaborative learning.

*A recommended completion timeline is provided; modules are made available progressively.


Participation requirements:
  • Commitment to complete all modules within the project timeline
  • Support from program/department chair
  • Active teaching duties (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenured welcome)
  • Staff in student facing roles (Advising, Admissions, HR, etc.)
  • Participation in (2) in-person sessions facilitated on campus

Time commitment:

Each module requires a total of approximately 2 hours per week to complete. In-person sessions are typically an hour.

for the Spring 2024 ACUE Course on Fostering a Culture of Belonging cohort:

  • Interest in the program (200 max)
  • History of participation in other social engagement and management programs.
  • Indication and acknowledgment of support from program/department Chair

Effective Teaching Practices Credential
(28-week program)

 

This is a 25-module credential focused on teaching practices for face-to-face instruction.

This is a comprehensive program organized around five units of study:

  • Establishing productive learning environments
  • Using active learning techniques
  • Promoting and facilitating higher order thinking, and
  • Assessing ways that inform instruction and
  • Promoting deeper levels of learning.



Timeline
: Courses begin in the Fall and conclude in April of the same academic year.


Format
: These are self-paced*, online modules. Participants are selected as a cohort and participate in virtual group discussions and 3-4 in-person sessions on campus to support collective and collaborative learning.

*A recommended completion timeline is provided; modules are made available progressively.


Participation requirements:
  • Commitment to completing all modules within the project timeline
  • Support from program/department chair
  • Be an active faculty member with teaching responsibilities (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenured welcome)
  • Participation in (3-4) in-person sessions facilitated on campus

Time commitment:

  • Each module requires a total of approximately 2 hours per week to complete
  • In-person sessions are typically an hour


Application:

  • Application process happens in July.
  • Application does not guarantee selection.
