The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) and two Community Based Organizations (CBO) are partnering for implementing an integrated program to prevent substance abuse (SA), HIV, and Hepatitis-C Virus (HCV) among minority young adults in El Paso. The “Hasta la Vista, Substance Abuse, HIV, and HCV” project aims to achieve normative and contextual changes among youth (18-24 years) who are students at UTEP, a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), and among youth served by Aliviane Inc. and minority community-based organizations (MCBOs).
The project aims to prevent and/or reduce SA, HIV, and HCV among minority young adults through a peer–driven and community-driven approach.
