Self Image

We have all been there before, staring at the mirror looking at our “imperfections”, wondering what we could do to change what we do not like about ourselves. Our self-image is important for us because it is the way we perceive ourselves. Having a healthy body image is not merely about being physically healthy, it is about how we feel comfortable and confident in our own skin. However, that is not always the case since we tend to have negative thoughts about our self-image from time to time, and sometimes it is not as easy to escape our negative perceptions. Moreover, there is pressure all around us from social media to television ads influencing us in what is perceived of the ideal body image. Nonetheless, these types of images of what an ideal body should be, and/or it should look like does not take in consideration of all bodies since all of our bodies are unique. Furthermore, building a healthy self-image helps us value and respect our own bodies, which leads to a healthy relationship among us and each other.
