CHECK GOLDMINE FOR CRN AND CURRENT DAYS AND TIMES
TOPIC: Jewish Women of the Holocaust
Instructor: Chavah I. Schwartz
What can a study of Jewish women offer our understanding of the Holocaust? While all Jews were targets of persecution throughout the Holocaust, the experiences of Jewish women during this time provide insight that is both meaningful and valuable for academics studying the Holocaust. This area of study represents a collaborative between Jewish studies and Women & Gender studies. The research done in this area works to recognize how gender and the experiences of women help us to better understand something as complex as the Holocaust. This academic study involves an examination of Jewish women’s experiences before, during, and after the Holocaust. The goal of this course is to introduce students to an academic study of the Holocaust through the experiences of Jewish women and to highlight the academic value of this approach for studying the Holocaust.
Prerequisite: RWS 1302 or ESOL 1312 with a grade of C or better.
