The Literacy Education Center is conveniently located in rooms 308 –312 of the Education Building.  The Center supports the educational, research, and service missions of the College of Education and the Department of Teacher Education. 

Academic Offerings Include:

·      Reading Specialization for Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

·      Master of Education, Instructional Specialist – Reading Concentration
(36 hr   non-thesis program)

·      Master of Arts in Education (30 hr + thesis program)

·      Master of Education – Reading Education resulting in All-levels Reading Specialists Certification
(36 hr non-thesis program)

·      Master Reading Teacher Certification (12 hr maximum/6 hr minimum)

Outreach Includes:

·       Summer Reading Camp for school age children

·       Literacy Workshop for struggling readers

·       ESL Literacy Classes for UTEP employees

·       Curriculum Materials Lab

·       Multimedia Teaching and Learning Center
