Clients of The University of Texas at El Paso’s Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) will be able to conduct more business virtually after the office launches its new online portal in mid-June 2022, which will coincide with the sale of 2022-23 parking permits.

PTS officials said the new portal will have enhanced capabilities and be user friendly, which will help the office’s approximately 28,000 student, employee, vendor and visitor constituents. (See flyer.)

University leaders began several months ago to investigate ways to enhance the current system because of lessons learned from COVID-19 when the PTS office processed a lot of business and information online. Some of the new features include easier ways to access permit history and to add vehicles to an account, as well as an improved portal to handle common requests such as permit returns and lost/stolen/missing permits.

“The application will have a different look,” said Jerri Herrera, PTS director. “We encourage our customers to visit and become comfortable with the new site. We are confident that they will find it more convenient to utilize and to navigate.”

Herrera said she was excited about the new system and was glad to have it ready for the start of 2022-23 parking permit sales. Employees can purchase their permits starting June 28.  Students can buy their permits as soon as July 19.

She said people with questions about the new parking portal should contact her office at 915-747-5724 or parking@utep.edu.
