Hawthorne Street Closure Will Impact Traffic Beginning May 13

An upcoming road closure will have a significant impact on vehicle traffic and parking on the south side of campus. Beginning May 13, a portion of Hawthorne Street in front of the Chemistry and Computer Science Building and the Engineering and Sciences Complex will be closed in order to allow utility work for UTEP's Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center.

From May 13 to Aug. 27, Hawthorne Street will be closed starting at Rim Road and going north toward Centennial Plaza. No vehicle access will be permitted in this area during the closure, and the Hawthorne 2 (HA2) parking lot near the Academic Advising Center will be inaccessible. Individuals who park in this area should utilize other Inner Campus Orange lots, such as Rim 3 (RI3) near the Carl Hertzog Building. In addition, no deliveries will be allowed on this portion of Hawthorne Street.

This closure coincides with the current closure on Rim Road on the south side of the Chemistry and Computer Science Building, which will also remain in effect through Aug. 27.

Sidewalks and pedestrian pathways will remain open in both areas.

For ADA-related parking accommodations in the area, please contact Parking and Transportation Services at 915-747-5724 or parking@utep.edu. For all other questions related to the closures, please contact Robert Meredith at rwmeredith@utep.edu or 915-747-8515.
