Catie McCorry-Andalis, Ed.D., has been named Vice President for Student Affairs and Amanda Vasquez-Vicario, Ph.D., has been named Vice President for Enrollment Management.

“Both Dr. McCorry-Andalis and Dr. Vasquez-Vicario are impressive campus leaders with proven track records at UTEP,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “They are ready for the next level of leadership in a strong team.”

McCorry-Andalis has worked at UTEP for nearly 18 years, serving as associate vice president and dean of students since 2011. Among her many accomplishments, McCorry-Andalis is responsible for establishing UTEP’s Office of Student Fellowships and Awards, food pantry and emergency fund. She also serves as one of the University’s Deputy Title IX Coordinators and holds more than 30 years of progressive, managerial and leadership experience in student affairs.

“The growth that happens through experiences outside of the classroom is an exceptionally important part of UTEP student college life,” said McCorry-Andalis, who has two daughters with her husband, Jose Andalis. “I look forward to continuing to build on our success and preparing our students for the 21st century.”

Vasquez-Vicario started her career as a middle school teacher and then joined UTEP 15 years ago. Her past roles at the University include adjunct faculty, curriculum manager for the Office of the Provost, and most recently, assistant vice president for enrollment services. In her academic and research career, she has focused on access to higher education for underrepresented student populations and students’ sense of belonging on campus. Vasquez-Vicario and her husband, Juan, have four children.

“As an El Paso native, I am deeply committed to supporting the students of our community and all of their aspirations,” Vasquez-Vicario said. “I am equally dedicated to the recruitment of students from communities across the state and beyond who deserve the opportunity to pursue a college education at UTEP.”

Both Vasquez-Vicario and McCorry-Andalis are UTEP alumnae. Vasquez-Vicario holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from UTEP and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from New Mexico State University. McCorry-Andalis holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Notre Dame de Namur University and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from UTEP.

UTEP’s current Vice President for Student Affairs, Gary Edens, Ed.D., steps down from the position on Monday, July 31. Edens, who has led the Division of Student Affairs for the last 12 years, will remain at UTEP and transition to a teaching position in the College of Education.

President Wilson said, “Gary Edens earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at UTEP and has worked here in a number of capacities for 35 years. We benefited tremendously from his 12 years of leadership as Vice President and I’m very glad he has decided that he wants to teach others in this next professional chapter.”
