The College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Health Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing, College of Science, School of Pharmacy and Woody L. Hunt College of Business will be showcased at various UTEP football home games this fall. Each college will have the opportunity to tailgate in the GR2 parking lot (next to the Larry K. Durham Center) prior to their game, then set up an information table in the concourse. Prominent faculty, staff and students from the college will be recognized on the field in-game, and a spot promoting the college will play on the video board.

The colleges will have access to free student tickets and special, discounted ticket rates for faculty, staff and alumni. All of the colleges will send emails out with unique QR codes linking to the discounted tickets. Students should make sure to access their free student tickets through the link so they can be counted toward their college’s attendance goal. The college that brings the most people to its game will receive an authentic UTEP football helmet at the end of the season – that’s where the “Challenge” comes in.

“We are really excited about our College Challenge,” UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter said. “Members of our external relations team met with the deans over the summer to initiate this program, and everyone was super receptive. We are elated that we can provide an avenue for the colleges to tell their story, with a little friendly competition behind the scenes.”

The College of Education, College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing will be featured at the UNLV game. The College of Liberal Arts will be the focus of the LA Tech game (Sept. 29). The Woody L. Hunt College of Business will be on display at the NM State game (Oct. 18). The College of Engineering, College of Science and School of Pharmacy will be accentuated at the WKU game during Homecoming (Nov. 4).

“We would like for this to become an annual occurrence at football home games, with the opportunity to branch out into basketball as well,” Senter said. “The hope is that students, faculty, staff and alumni will take pride and ownership in their game, and will want to be there. It’s a win-win for everyone. We have the opportunity to highlight our colleges at the games, and increased participation creates an electric game day atmosphere.”
