UTEP Names Margaret Erickson Vice President of Human Resources

EL PASO, Texas (Aug. 26, 2025) – The University of Texas at El Paso has named Margaret Erickson the new Vice President for Human Resources. She will also serve as UTEP’s Chief Human Resources Officer. Erickson most recently served as Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer at North Carolina State University (NCSU), where she provided guidance and support to more than 10,000 faculty and staff.

 “UTEP is committed to employee wellbeing, as well as recruitment and retention,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “Margaret brings a wealth of experience and leadership in employee relations to the University and we’re excited to have her on board.”

Erickson joined NCSU in 2019 and led the design and restructure of key HR processes to meet emerging campus needs. Prior to that, she served as HR Group and HR Project Manager at the University of Michigan Shared Services Center, where she oversaw a team of 50 staff members who provided expert human resource services to 44,000 employees.

Erickson has also served as Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Triton College and Director of Employee and Labor Relations at Davenport University. She has also worked as an HR consultant and as a general manager for restaurant companies like McDonalds.

Erickson holds a bachelor’s and master’s in organizational management from Spring Arbor University, as well as executive and performance leadership certifications from Cornell University and is a certified Organizational Development Consultant.

Her tenure at UTEP begins Sept. 15, 2025.
