“Jesse brings exceptional development and leadership experience to our team,” said President Heather Wilson. “His understanding of our mission and our region make him a great fit for UTEP.”

Pisors has unique connections to the Borderlands region. Early in his career, he served as principal for Instituto Las Américas de Parral, a private K-12 school in Parral in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. His wife, Nayeli, is originally from Parral as well.

“I am excited to build on the great advancement work that has been done at UTEP and collaboratively lead the Institutional Advancement team,” Pisors said. “UTEP is changing lives and building futures in the Borderplex, setting an example for the nation. It is deeply inspiring to join those who are doing this work. My wife and I are honored to become part of the El Paso community, a place we have visited for many years, always hoping that our journey would someday allow us to call El Paso home.”

Pisors has spent almost 15 years in university advancement leadership, serving as a director, senior director, executive director and twice as a vice president. After leading development and alumni relations at Oral Roberts University (ORU), his alma mater, and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown for several years, he joined University of Houston-Victoria, now known as Texas A&M University-Victoria, as Vice President for Advancement and External Relations from 2015-2022.

In addition to a bachelors degree in history and a masters in educational administration from ORU, Jesse holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Texas Tech University. His doctoral research focused on the fundraising challenges and expectations facing university presidents, providing him with a strategic, research-backed perspective on advancement for the executive suite.

Jesse and Nayeli have two adult children, Andrea in Albuquerque and Josué in Boston. Over the years, they have enjoyed hosting international students from Venezuela, Mexico, India, South Korea and Thailand in their bilingual and multicultural home.

Jesse, Nayeli and Piper — their 8-year-old boxer and blue heeler mix — will make their home in El Paso.
