Forbes Names UTEP Among Nation’s Top 15 Colleges for Launching Careers
UTEP also ranked 8th nationally for lowest student debt
EL PASO, Texas (Dec. 18, 2025) – Forbes has ranked The University of Texas at El Paso among the 15 top colleges for launching careers and eighth nationally for lowest average student debt.
The Forbes’ rankings evaluated 500 colleges nationwide for their effectiveness in helping graduates successfully enter the workforce. UTEP joins a distinguished group of institutions that includes Carnegie Mellon University, Drexel University and Arizona State University.
“UTEP opens doors for anyone who is willing to work for it,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “I’m proud that UTEP is being recognized nationally for our real-world impact on students’ lives.”
Forbes selected the 15 schools for their emphasis on work experience, including student participation in co-ops and internships; median salaries three years after graduation; and post-graduation employment rates.
In addition, the 2025 Forbes List of America’s Top Colleges found that UTEP ranks eighth nationally for the lowest average student debt — $4,410 — at graduation. In Texas, UTEP has the second-lowest average debt out of all colleges and universities.
