The El Paso City Council proclaimed the month of March as Social Work Month in the City of El Paso during its regular public meeting on Tuesday, March 19, at City Hall, 300 N. Campbell.

UTEP students in the Bachelor of Social Work Program collaborated with the Rio Grande Branch of the National Association of Social Workers to spearhead the proclamation in honor of the important contributions social workers make to society.

March is National Professional Social Work Month. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 680,000 social workers in the United States providing assistance in a variety of settings, including mental health clinics, schools, child welfare and human service agencies, hospitals and more.
