In its June 16, 2019 issue, The Dallas Morning News pays tribute to how outgoing UTEP President Diana Natalicio has “shown how education can transform a community.”

The work of UTEP President Diana Natalicio is highlighted in a column titled "How UTEP's president made the university into a national research institute and a model for educating first-generation students", written by UTEP alumnus Alfredo Corchado.

The column, written by UTEP alumnus and Gold Nugget recipient Alfredo Corchado, talks about President Natalicio's successful efforts to ensure that the student population mirrored the predominantly Hispanic community, and make UTEP more inclusive without lowering its educational standards.
